Tribune: 'Salt Lake cops: TRAX station-area death was homicide'

At The Salt Lake Tribune:
Salt Lake City police are investigating the death of a 27-year-old man early Thursday as a homicide.

Salt Lake City Fire Department dispatchers received a 911 from Utah Transit Authority at 12:07 a.m. Thursday reporting a severely injured man down in the area of the TRAX train station at 350 W. South Temple.


When emergency response personnel arrived, they found Emett Schad in extremely critical condition. He was rushed to the hospital but was soon pronounced dead, police said.

Salt Lake police Detective Dennis McGowan said police were withholding details on the sort of injuries Schad suffered. Police would only confirm that detectives were investigating his death as a homicide. No witnesses were found at the scene.
